A reflective look at my life and what is most important to me.
Hello! I'm Thomas Johnston, a singer/songwriter from Whitehouse Station NJ. Allow me to introduce my 5th studio record, "Traveling Companions". This is my most personal album to date, and many have commented that it is my best yet. The title track is a tribute to my son, Stephen, who co-produced the record me and ran the board in our new recording studio, SonDad Studios. It's all me on the record: vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica, mandolin, and bodhran.
"It's Baking Day!" celebrates the joy of homemade baked goods, and "With These Hands" is a reflective look at my life. "26 Stars" is a prayer to the victims of the 2017 church shooting in Sutherland Springs TX. "You Are Heroes" is a tribute to all the frontline medical workers during the COVID pandemic, and "Social Distancing" presents a different look at the effects of the pandemic. "October 3rd 1974" is a song for my cousin Stephen Kitson, shot to death in my old Bronx NY neighborhood at the age of 17. Songs dedicated to friends are "Rebecca", "Road Trip to Ohio", "Caroline", and "Rachel and Harvey". "Rest Assured" is a song of commitmment to the one you love.
This record was pure joy to make, and I am so grateful for the overwhelmingly positive response it has earned. I truly hope you enjoy "Traveling Companions".
